What's that you say?  You're not a fast runner, so you have no chance of winning an award?  Not so fast!  New for 2011, we are introducing the "Middle of the Nest" award which goes to the person who finishes exactly in the middle of the field (based on finishing position).  The "Middle of the Nest" finisher will receive a medal, a framed award, and a free portrait package courtesy of Rebecca Chupka of Flashback Portrait.

Team Challenge

New for 2011, we are adding a Team Challenge to the Turtle Krawl. Teams must consist of at least five members (there is no maximum) with at least one team member being of the opposite sex. Each team's fastest five runners (with at least one opposite sex runner) will have their times combined to generate their team's score. Special Turtle Krawl awards will be given to the Top 3 teams.

Best of all, runners who register as a team receive discounted registration - So even if you aren't a competitive runner, put together a team of friends or coworkers and save a couple bucks!

Packet Pickup

Race packets can be picked up at Running Zone (on Wickham Road, across from the BCC Pavilion) on Friday, 9/16 from 10 AM - 6:30 PM, or in Nance Park after 6 AM the morning of the race.

Free Parking

Turtle Krawl participants and volunteers can park at any of the metered spots in Nance Park or along Waveland Ave for free until 10:00 AM on race day.  Parking will be enforced after that, so be sure to bring some quarters if you plan to stay for a beach day after the race.

Strollers - Yes; Dogs - No

You are welcome to run or walk the Turtle Krawl pushing a stroller.  All we ask is that you please start toward the back of the pack to help avoid any congestion problems at the beginning of the race.

Unfortunately, Nance Park is not dog friendly, so no dogs will be allowed to participate in the Turtle Krawl.

Posters

Help spread the word about the Turtle Krawl by hanging up a poster in your place of business, your school, or anywhere else (with permission, of course).

You can download the full sized image here.

Many thanks to Nini Connor for designing this year's entry forms and posters!

Volunteers

We will need 30-40 volunteers for a variety of tasks the week before and especially on race day (if you are not participating in the race).  To volunteer, please send an email to turtlekrawl@seaturtlespacecoast.org and someone will get back to you in early September.

If you are interested in volunteering for other STPS activities, please email volunteer@seaturtlespacecoast.org for more information. All volunteers are required to have an STPS Volunteer Application form on file with the STPS.
